The bf and I grabbed lunch here before heading over the Oakland Museum of California a couple of months ago. We were seated promptly and handed a menu of too many drool-worthy choices. Our waitress had to come over several times before we were ready, but always with patience and a smile, giggling at our indecisiveness.
I went with Mac the Goat plus peas and the bf ordered the Gilroy plus breadcrumbs and then a side of the roasted carrots. Ooph. To drink I had an iced tea and the bf had the most delicious root beer I think I’ve ever tasted.
When our food came out, we were in mac n’ cheese heaven. Everything was just so delicious and full of flavor. i would have to say that the Gilroy came out the winner, but Mac the Goat was definitely a closer runner-up. The use of such distinctive cheese is wonderful in every way. I love love love cheese, all cheese, so having it incorporated in such a loved comfort food is fantastic.
I would highly recommend Homeroom for both the food and the ambiance. It’s a nice place to relax and enjoy a lunch date with friends or significant others. We will definitely be making a return visit to try the other mac n’ cheese variations as well as the peanut butter pie. As we were paying our bill, all of a sudden there was the most delicious aroma that wafted around the restaurant. We were informed that they were in the midst of making the graham cracker crust for the peanut butter pie.
